Aphthasol Uses

Aphthasol is used as a paste in the mouth to treat canker sores (aphthous ulcers).

How Taken

Apply medicine to the canker sore as soon as you notice it. Wash your hands immediately after using amlexanox paste. Keep using the medicine until the sore has healed; however, if it is not healed after 10 days talk with your doctor. Do not get any paste in your eyes. If any gets in your eyes wash them out with water right away.

Aphthasol Warnings

Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to amlexanox. Also tell your health care professional if you are allergic to any other substances such as dyes or preservatives. Amlexanox has not been studied in humans; however, studies in animals have found that it doesn't cause birth defects or other problems.

Aphthasol Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of this medicine apply it as soon as possible; however, if it is almost time for the next dose skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dose schedule.

Aphthasol Possible Side Effects

Along with its needed effects a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. The following side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine; however, check with your doctor if any of these effects continue or are bothersome. Less serious side effects may include: burning, stinging, pain on the part of your body that medicine is applied, inflammation of mucous membranes, diarrhea, and nausea.

Aphthasol Storage

Keep out of the reach of children. Store far from heat and direct light. Do not store in the bathroom, near the kitchen sink, or in other damp places. Heat or moisture may cause the medicine to break down. Do not keep outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed. Be sure that any discarded medicine is out of reach from children.

Aphthasol Overdose

Seek emergency medical attention if an overdose is suspected.
