Chantix
Chantix Uses
CHANTIX (varenicline) is a prescription drug specifically developed to help adults quit smoking. CHANTIX gives smokers a significantly better chance of success than Zyban. Maybe you have tried quitting cold turkey. You may have tried nicotine gum or patches without success. But now there is reason to try again. CHANTIX should be taken for 12 weeks.
How Taken
Take Chantix exactly as prescribed. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it longer than recommended by your health care professional. Follow the directions on your prescription label.
To improve your chances for successful smoking cessation, set a date to quit smoking. Start taking Chantix one week before you plan to quit smoking.
When you first start taking Chantix, you will take a low dose and then gradually increase your dose over the first several days of treatment. Follow your Health Care Professional's instructions. Your Health Care Professional may occasionally change your dose to make sure you get the best results.
Take this medicine with a full glass of water and after eating.
In most cases, Chantix treatment lasts for 12 weeks. Your health care professional may recommend a second 12-week course of Chantix to improve the chance that you will quit smoking long term.
It is important to take Chantix regularly to get the most benefit. Get your prescription refilled before you run out of medicine completely for best results.
Chantix Warnings
Tell your health care professional about all of your medical conditions including if you have kidney problems or need kidney dialysis. Your health care professional may prescribe a lower dose of Chantix if you are pregnant planning to become pregnant. Chantix has not been studied in pregnant women and it is not known if Chantix will harm an unborn baby. Although it was not studied, it is possible that Chantix may pass into breast milk.
Chantix Missed Dose
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take Chantix at the next regularly scheduled time. Do not take extra medication to make up the missed dose. Be sure to take the medication after eating.

More Information on Chantix
Chantix works in two ways to help you stop smoking. It works to block the effects of nicotine, reducing the pleasure reward of smoking. And it provides some nicotine effects to ease the severity of cravings and withdrawal symptoms. This dual action makes it easier for many patients to quit smoking.
